Twist by Kylie Scott
Personal Thoughts:
Twist is book #2 in Kylie Scott’s Dive Bar series.
Enjoyable read but the Stage Dive series remains my favorite work by this author (except for book 4…I hated it)
Here we meet Joe Collins and Alex Parks.
They get to know each other online but Joe has not been completely honest with Alex and she believes she’s talking to Eric, Joe’s brother.
When she muster the courage to meet him in real life, she travels to meet Eric that knows nothing about her.
Joe reveals he’s been using for months his brother’s profile, he did not expect to meet someone like Alex and he never got around to change the profile’s informations.
Alex feels betrayed but she accepts Joe’s offer of staying and getting to know him face to face.
They soon realize their on-line connection was not a fluke and a friendship develops into more.
“It’s good to see you relax.” He leaned in closer. “Between you and me, you can be a little high strung sometimes.”
“Which is completely cool and super-desirable, thank you very much.”
“Abso-fucking-lutely.” The laughter in his eyes was beatific.”
Unfortunately The drama at the end was pretty ridiculous…
Alex takes a chance when he asks her to.
Later in the story, when she leaves him free to decide if he truly wants to pursue a relationship with her (because he needs time after a tragic loss)…he acts like an asshole:
She writes him, asking about his health and telling him she misses him and he ignores her completely for 2 MONTHS!!
When they see each other again just because, AGAIN, Alex reaches out first…he acts all wounded and angry because she left.
DUDE, YOU ASKED HER TO!!!
YOU EVEN LET YOUR EX FLIRT SHAMELESSLY WITH YOU IN FRONT OF HER SAYING NOTHING!!!
Asshole…
So…yeah...by the end I wasn’t a big fan of Joe.
Up until Joe’s change of personality I was loving this sweet story!
It was cute and fun
“I want you with me.” Another kiss was placed on my face. “But don’t rush into making a decision. I don’t want you regretting anything.”
“We’ll figure it out.” I smiled, soaking in the scent of him, the feel of his slick suit and thick shoulder beneath my cheek. The brush of his beard against the top of my head. Heaven.
“Yeah,” he whispered. “Love you.”
“You do?”
“Without a doubt.”
“Good. I love you more though,” I said. Because it’s important in relationships, especially those that felt like forever, to show that you were the better person. Ha.”
Overall this was a ⭐ 3 Stars ⭐ read for me.
