Right by Jana Aston
Plot:
Everly has always known who the right man for her is: Finn Camden
She was 6 years old and she just knew!
Thus the relentless pursuing begins…and Finn IS NOT INTERESTED!
Over the years she doesn’t give up though, until she meets his older brother Sawyer and he kisses her.
The crazy/stalkerish train she was on?
Derailed.
Why?
Because Sawyer plans on giving her back the same kind of “attention” she gave his little brother…and Everly IS NOT INTERESTED!
“So it’s okay for you to stalk Finn, but it’s not okay for me to stalk you? You’re priceless, Everly. I think I’m really going to enjoy you.”
“Enjoy me? You don’t have me.”
“I will.”
Oh Well…what if she is?
Personal Thoughts:
Premise: THIS ENTIRE BOOK IS OVER THE TOP AND CRAZY STUFF HAPPENS.
This is not the kind of book where you seek plausibility.
There’s nothing sane or believable about Everly’s obsession and Finn’s passiveness.
If there was, she would be considered a certifiable case (in need for some serious help) and her ass should have been reported to the autorities by Finn IMMEDIATELY.
That said, this book made me laugh almost all the way through.
It’s insane and over the top but it worked for me, tropes and crazy stuff included.
“Just so we’re clear, you’re mine.”
He smiles in response. “You’re such a little cavewoman.”
“I’m serious.”
“You’re bewitching.”
We stare at each other in a silent standoff until he leans down and kisses me.
“Yours,” he agrees when he’s done. “But I thought I made that clear when I hacked your Facebook.”
Same “I hacked into your facebook” phrase in normal circumstances wouldn’t have made me smile AT ALL (è_é), but here?
As for the rating this book was not quite a 4 stars read but deserves more than 3 stars because I enjoyed it a lot more than the previous book “Wrong”.
Before chapter 43/52 of the book, it was a full 4 stars reading (maybe even more!) but the last few chapters ruined the amazing fun I was having with Sawyer&Everly’s story.
Their kind of crazy/stalkerish/overthetop personalities made them perfect for each other until chapter 43 “happens” and Sawyer acts completely out of character!
After he’s “bulldozed” himself into Everly’s life with happy ever after in mind, he just leaves her because he discovers he has a 4 years old son.
I’m very much annoyed by “drama-for-the-sake-of-drama plot twists”.
VERY, VERY MUCH ANNOYED.
Even in the “over-the-top and insane” kind of plot THAT is a big “NO” for me.
Sure….There was some cuteness overload before the ending came rolling in, but it didn’t make up for a twist handled very poorly.
There aren’t half stars I can use so I have to round it up to a 4 stars rating.
“It’s okay to rewrite your happily ever after, Everly. Sometimes the right guy is the one you never see coming.”
This book was lots of fun. I just wished for awesomeness all the way through.
⭐ 3.5 stars rounded up ⭐
