Plot:
The god of the underworld and the daughter of Demeter, goddess of the harvest and agriculture.
In the original myth, Hades falls in love with Persephone at first sight and abducts her while, in “For the Love of Hades” by Sasha Summers, they’re both fascinated with each other right from the start.
In this retelling, when Hades realizes how attracted he is to this beautiful and pure goddess, he actually tries to keep her at a distance.
She was not made to share the underworld with him, she belongs to earth and nature.
Well, Persephone does not agree and she will not let others decide what’s best for her, not where Hades is concerned.
Personal Thoughts:
I really enjoyed reading this book.
The myth is well known and yet the story felt fresh and engaged me all the way through.
Hades is pictured so differently from what I’m used to!
Here he’s kind of a dream man…brooding, hot, gentle and loyal…
I fell so hard for him ❤_❤
“-His heart is hard.
-She shook her head.
-No? Hermes’ brows rose.
-Guarded, yes. But not hard.”
Persephone was wonderfully portrayed too.
She’s delicate and sweet but she’s also strong minded and fights for what she wants.
“Time had passed, yet her heart held onto him. She did not draw breath without thinking of him. She did not dream without feeling his presence at her side. His voice, in memory, was sweeter than any she’d heard. And she did not want to be without him.”
Such a beautiful couple!
Halfway through, things slow down quite a bit, with some more action or more compelling moments I would have rated this book 5 stars.
