Dissident (Bellator Saga Book #1) by Cecilia London
America’s government is corrupt, a governor and his wife want to reveal the truth but first they need to run from the military that’s chasing them.
Their lives are not the only thing at stake, they have proof that cannot fall into the wrong hands.
5 years earlier…
Passionate Democrat Caroline Joan Gerard, is picking up the pieces of her life after losing her husband.
Her daughters and her job are her life.
Millionaire Republican playboy John Montgomery McIntyre has his eyes set on Caroline.
A true frienship develops but soon their chemistry becomes too strong to resist and passion ignites in the midst of political turmoil.
Action, suspense, and a love…how will this story unfold?
I was looking around my favorite library, I picked this book up, read the first chapter…and I was hooked!
A love story in the midst of a political thriller with a fictional corrupt President and government?
Even if 6 books to get the whole thing?
Mmmmm me not likey as much.
I am an impatient reader and cliffhangers are a PAIN for me.
Since the entire series is available…let’s tackle this! XD
The story seems promising…even if the back and forth between “present” and “past” events bothered me considerably because it didn’t make sense to me.
The author uses it just to keep some kind of connection to the “present” but those flash forwards are just confusing.
They give us very little on the “status quo” presented at the beginning, they are random and, in my opinion, discontinue the narration.
I KNOW THIS IS ONLY THE FIRST BOOK OF 6 but the first chapter IS the main reason why I kept on reading…
I wanted to know what happened SO BAD!
Unfortunately NOTHING truly relevant is revealed about HOW and WHY Jack & Caroline find themselves in the life-threatening situation that opens up this series.
The author grabs the reader’s attention with that first scene and then almost forgets about it.
In this book we get to know how our two main characters meet and fall for each other.
It bothered me but I still want to know how did they end up risking their lives.
Overall I enjoyed both characters and writing but I really think the author didn’t do a great job with the structure of this first book.
The romance was sweet, steamy and well developed.
I hope I’ll get more informations on what’s going on in the next book.
⭐☆ 3 \ 3.5 stars ☆⭐
THIS IS BOOK 1 OF 6 and obviously ends on a CLIFFHANGER.

~ Quotes ~
“Your sister will show you around. Right, Mo?” Marguerite smiled at her younger sibling with genuine affection. “Sure thing, Feef.” She turned to her mother. “I’m getting paid for this, right?” Caroline rolled her eyes. “No values whatsoever,” she said to Marguerite. “None.”
